From sheep to skein, this fiber has a story rooted right here in America.
Our Shaniko Spinning Fiber is a beautifully fine 20.4-micron Merino/Rambouillet top, raised and milled in the USA, then hand dyed by Yarn Dragon in Seattle. Each 100-gram braid brings together the softness and fineness we love in Merino with the character and resilience of Rambouillet, creating a fiber that's a pleasure to spin and beautiful in the finished project.
At just 20.4 microns, this is exceptionally fine wool—soft enough for next-to-skin projects while still giving handspinners the wonderful experience of working with a natural, non-superwash fiber. Use it for handspinning, felting, or simply enjoy the transformation from one of our hand-dyed braids into something entirely your own.
What makes Shaniko especially exciting to us is its journey: the wool is raised in America, milled into top in America, and hand dyed in America. It's a fiber that celebrates the people, animals, and craftsmanship behind every step.
