About Yarn Dragon

~Jonathan Berner

Welcome to Yarn Dragon — where passion for fiber meets handcrafted artistry. Based in Seattle, Yarn Dragon is a creative fiber studio and yarn shop serving knitters, crocheters, spinners, and weavers from near and far. We’re proud to have two brick-and-mortar locations: one in the heart of Pike Place Market and another in historic Pioneer Square, alongside our online shop.

Founded by Jonathan (the Yarn Dragon), the business began as a hand-dyed yarn brand selling wholesale to yarn shops around the country. Those early years of dyeing yarn, building relationships with local yarn stores, and learning what makers truly love laid the foundation for everything Yarn Dragon is today.

At the same time, Jonathan began sharing his love of fiber arts online — teaching, demystifying yarn, and celebrating creativity with humor and honesty. Over time, this grew into a large and engaged social media community, bringing together makers from all over the world and helping Yarn Dragon grow far beyond Seattle. That connection and conversation with the fiber community continues to shape how we dye, curate, and show up every day.

As the community grew, so did the dream — first into a physical shop, and eventually into two vibrant retail spaces rooted in Seattle’s creative neighborhoods.

Today, Yarn Dragon is a destination for thoughtfully curated fiber goodness, including:

  • Hand-dyed yarns in luxurious bases and original colorways
  • Knitting, crochet, spinning, and weaving tools we genuinely love and use
  • Kits, books, and supplies for makers at every stage
  • A welcoming, joy-filled space for creativity and connection

Whether you’re visiting us in Pike Place Market, stopping by the factory store in Pioneer Square, or shopping online from across the globe, our mission remains the same: to bring color, quality, and joy to your making.

Every skein we dye and every product we stock reflects our belief that fiber arts are about more than finished objects — they’re about community, curiosity, and the simple magic of creating something with your hands. Thanks for being part of our story.
